Ercol dining set of table and two chairs (blue Label)

A charming and unusual mid-century Ercol dining set, designed by Lucian Ercolani in the 1960s and beautifully handcrafted in elm and beech.

The square table has a particularly practical and distinctive feature: a wooden rack positioned beneath the main tabletop, providing useful additional storage for books, magazines or everyday items. Its compact proportions make it especially versatile for smaller dining areas, kitchens or breakfast spaces.

The set includes two original Ercol chairs, complementing the table beautifully and creating a simple yet characterful dining set.

The entire set has been professionally restored. The wood has been carefully sanded and finished with Osmo Raw, preserving the natural appearance and beautiful grain of the elm while providing protection for everyday use. The result is a warm, understated finish that allows the natural beauty of the timber to remain the focus.

A lovely example of Ercol’s thoughtful mid-century design, combining elegant simplicity with practical functionality.

Dining set of eight rosewood dining chairs(by Kristian Solmer Vedel)

As I capture my products through the lens, there are moments when haste urges me forward — a quiet wish to complete one piece and move on to the next. Yet, now and then, an item graces my hands that beckons time to slow. Its natural beauty enchants from every angle; the richness of its texture, the harmony of its colours, the noble material, the gentle curves — all conspire to hold me still. It exudes such warmth and effortless charm that I find myself lingering. Hours may pass in quiet joy, for this is not merely a product — it is poetry in form, and today, the camera and I are content to be its audience.

I only wish I could fully convey the soul of this exquisite set of eight chairs including two carved and six single chairs.— a work of enduring beauty crafted from rich Rosewood. Designed by the renowned Industrial Designer Kristian Solmer Vedel for the Modus collection  and masterfully handcrafted by Søren Willadsen in Denmark during the storied 1960s, it speaks of another time, when artistry met function with reverence.

I want to be completely transparent with you, so if you decide to buy the chairs, I would like you to know that some of the maker’s labels are either missing or in poor condition. I believe only four of the chairs still have the original maker’s label in good condition.

Chairs made from solid warm rosewood and upholstery in black leather.

A quiet dialogue between East and West, restraint and indulgence, unfolds in this distinguished set of four ‘Jano’ chairs, conceived by Kazuhide Takahama for Gavina in the mid-20th century.

Gracefully poised upon stainless steel frames, each chair carries the lightness of modernist vision, its lines precise yet unassuming. The structure, cool and luminous, is gently softened by the warmth of finely shaped mahogany armrests—an elegant contrast that speaks to a time when craftsmanship was both discipline and art.

The chairs retain their original upholstery in a soft cream velvet, a fabric that speaks gently of its years. There are visible signs of use, subtle traces of a life once lived, which lend character and authenticity rather than detract from their quiet elegance. Some of the armrests show signs of wear consistent with age, gentle marks that speak to their history and long service

A distinguished set of eight Model 31 chairs, conceived in 1956 by the celebrated Danish designer Kai Kristiansen and handcrafted in Denmark by Schou Andersen Møbelfabrik.

Born in the golden age of Scandinavian modernism, the Model 31 is admired for its quiet mastery of form and function. The gently curved backrest is shaped to follow the human body, offering natural comfort, while the solid wood frame—traditionally executed in teak or rosewood—reveals the precision and integrity of mid-century Danish craftsmanship. Every line is purposeful, every joint a testament to a time when furniture was made to endure.

The chairs have undergone a careful and thorough restoration. All wooden surfaces have been meticulously sanded and refinished with Fiddes hardwax oil, enhancing the natural grain while providing lasting protection. Each structure has been fully stress-tested, re-glued where necessary, and tightened using traditional hand-craft methods, ensuring that every chair is solid, stable, and true.

The set is offered ready for upholstery, allowing the future owner to complete it according to personal taste. Upholstery may be selected from Spradling vinyls or from Baumann and Creation fabrics; samples from all suppliers can be provided upon request. Set of four oak dining chairs by Kai Kristensen (Model 31)

Set of Oak Model 31 Chairs by Kai Kristiansen, 1960s

Designed by Kai Kristiansen, one of Denmark’s most celebrated and influential mid-century designers, the Model 31 has become an enduring icon of Scandinavian design. Recognised for its graceful proportions and organic lines, it remains one of Kristiansen’s most sought-after creations.

This set, crafted in Denmark during the 1960s — the golden age of Danish design — embodies the era’s devotion to craftsmanship, functionality, and refined simplicity. The chairs are made of solid oak, their structure firm and finely balanced, showcasing the natural beauty of the wood. The oak has been carefully treated—pickled and finished with Renner ultra-transparent varnish—to preserve its authentic, light tone while ensuring long-lasting protection.

The seats have been newly upholstered in a refined light vanilla velvet by Baumann Creation, a Swiss company renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship. This choice of fabric lends a soft contrast to the sculptural frame, enhancing both comfort and elegance.

    Pair of leather lounge chairs.

These leather lounge chairs, once a part of the 60s collection at the renowned Maskrey’s furniture store in Cardiff, are now available for comfort. With solid wood frames and caramel leather upholstery, these chairs are in good vintage condition, showing only normal wear and tear due to age. While the designer and the crafting company remain a mystery, I can assure you that these chairs are not just a piece of history but also the most comfortable lounge chairs you’ll ever experience.

Robert Maskrey was an influential furniture retailer and philanthropist. He ran the Welsh retailer Maskreys from 1970 to 2011 and had a 50-year career in the furniture industry.
He played a key role in introducing many of mainland Europe’s top furniture design brands to the UK for the first time. Known for his love of design and as one of the trade’s best buyers, he frequented furniture shows worldwide. In the 1950s, Maskreys became a specialist in sourcing and stocking innovative, contemporary home furnishings. It was recognized for showcasing the latest designs and styles and pioneering trends.
The company was the first to bring blond wood from Scandinavia to the UK in the 1950s, and it also introduced Ligne Roset and Hulsta to the UK in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
