Johannes Andersen Teak Extending Dining Table (Chr. Linnebergs Møbelfabrik, Denmark, 1960s)

A stunning example of Danish mid-century craftsmanship, this extending dining table was designed by the iconic Johannes Andersen and handcrafted in warm, vibrant teak for Chr. Linnebergs Møbelfabrik during the 1960s.

The table embodies the refined simplicity and organic elegance characteristic of Andersen’s work — with clean lines, beautifully sculpted joints, and a thoughtful balance of form and function.

One of its notable features is the ingenious construction: the legs are attached to the top with neatly designed fittings, allowing the table to be easily dismantled for transport or delivery.

Another practical and elegant detail is the built-in extension system. Two matching teak leaves are stored discreetly underneath the tabletop and can be pulled out to extend the table on both sides, providing generous space for additional guests.

The table has been fully restored, showcasing the rich tone and grain of the teak. Please note, however, that one of the extension leaves has a small patch of missing veneer (approximately 2 cm in diameter) that has been carefully disguised during restoration. We want to draw your attention to this detail — please zoom in on the photos to view it clearly.

This timeless design not only reflects the best of Danish modern aesthetics but also offers enduring functionality — perfect for both daily dining and entertaining.

Dining extending table and chairs (by Kristian Solmer Vedel)

As I capture my products through the lens, there are moments when haste urges me forward — a quiet wish to complete one piece and move on to the next. Yet, now and then, an item graces my hands that beckons time to slow. Its natural beauty enchants from every angle; the richness of its texture, the harmony of its colours, the noble material, the gentle curves — all conspire to hold me still. It exudes such warmth and effortless charm that I find myself lingering. Hours may pass in quiet joy, for this is not merely a product — it is poetry in form, and today, the camera and I are content to be its audience.

I only wish I could fully convey the soul of this exquisite table and chair set — a work of enduring beauty crafted from rich Rosewood. Designed by the renowned Industrial Designer Kristian Solmer Vedel and masterfully handcrafted by Søren Willadsen in Denmark during the storied 1960s, it speaks of another time, when artistry met function with reverence.

The graceful oval table measures nearly 2 metres when closed (198 cm) and extends to a grand 298 cm with its two centre leaves, offering both generous space and timeless elegance. It is a dining table not merely to serve but to gather, share, and remember.

The table stands with quiet strength, upheld by two sculptural legs — each one forming a graceful triangle, a testament to both elegance and engineering. These geometric supports, both artful and resolute, provide steadfast balance to the substantial Rosewood top. In their poised simplicity, they speak of thoughtful design — a harmony of form and function. They do not merely hold the table; they honour it.
