Long and narrow sideboard by McIntosh

Conceived in Scotland in the early 1970s, this elegant sideboard was designed by Tom Robertson and Val Rossi for the esteemed cabinetmakers A.H. McIntosh, a name long associated with integrity of form and excellence of workmanship.

The composition is both practical and poised. To the left, a bank of three drawers offers generous storage, the upper drawer thoughtfully lined for cutlery. To the right, a cupboard enclosed by two plain doors provides discreet space, preserving the clean, unbroken rhythm of the façade. The design is distinguished by its elongated, gently curved handles, which draw the eye along the length of the piece and lend it a quiet sculptural grace.

Fashioned in richly toned teak, the sideboard reveals the natural beauty of the wood, its grain warm and expressive, softened by time and careful use. The slender proportions and narrow body enhance its sense of lightness, allowing it to sit effortlessly within both contemporary and traditionally minded interiors.

A refined example of Scottish modern design, where restraint, utility, and enduring craftsmanship are held in perfect accord.
