Jørgen Clausen for Brande Møbelfabrik – Large Danish Executive Desk, 1950s (Teak)

A commanding presence of quiet authority, this exceptional executive desk by Jørgen Clausen, crafted for Brande Møbelfabrik, embodies the disciplined elegance of mid-century Danish design. Created in the 1950s, it speaks of an era when craftsmanship was not hurried, and every line was drawn with purpose.

Fashioned from richly grained teak, the desk presents a floating rectangular top, a hallmark of refined Scandinavian form, lending both lightness and architectural poise. Beneath, a central pull-out tray offers a discreet extension of the working surface—practical, yet seamlessly integrated.

Suspended gracefully below are twin drawers with sculpted handles, each carved with a sensitivity to touch and proportion. Within, thoughtful interiors reveal sliding covers and fitted stationery compartments, arranged to the left and right with a quiet symmetry—an intimate nod to the rituals of correspondence and order.

The whole rests upon elegantly shaped supports, giving the piece a sense of elevation and balance, while the maker’s stamp bears witness to its origin and authenticity.

This is not merely a desk, but a place of intention—where work, thought, and craft converge.

Large Danish Teak Extending Dining Table by Harry Østergaard for Randers Møbelfabrik,

A rare expression of Danish ingenuity, this exceptional dining table was designed by Harry Østergaard for Randers Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1960s—an era when craftsmanship and quiet innovation walked hand in hand.

At first glance, the table speaks in the restrained language of mid-century design; yet beneath its composed surface lies a most unusual and refined mechanical extension system. Two extension leaves are ingeniously concealed beneath the main top, awaiting their moment. With a gentle pull of the opposing ends, the table reveals its secret: the extensions rise and unfold almost effortlessly, emerging in a fluid, near-automatic motion. It is a mechanism both practical and quietly remarkable—one seldom encountered, even among the finest Danish tables of its time.

Crafted from warm teak, the table rests upon a solid frame that ensures both strength and enduring stability. It has been fully restored, preserving its integrity while honouring the passage of years. As with many pieces touched by time and sunlight, the main surface has softened in tone, its darker grain less pronounced, while the extension leaves retain their deeper, richer veining—creating a gentle contrast that tells the story of its life.

The thoughtful proportions extend beyond its surface. A generous 152 cm span between the legs provides ample room for up to three chairs on each side, offering both comfort and flexibility. In its full extension, the table can accommodate up to 12 guests for convivial gatherings, or 10 in more relaxed comfort.

Generous in scale and uncommon in proportion, the table measures 180 x 100 cm when closed, extending to an impressive 292 x 100 cm, offering both intimacy and grandeur in equal measure.

A distinguished piece where thoughtful engineering meets timeless Danish design—best appreciated in motion, as its elegant transformation quietly unfolds.

Set of eight CH23 Dining Chair by Hans J. Wegner

A masterpiece of mid-century design, the CH23 Dining Chair stands as one of the earliest creations Hans J. Wegner crafted exclusively for Carl Hansen & Søn in 1950. These pioneering designs not only captured a distinct artistic elegance but also established enduring standards for modern furniture through their graceful form and thoughtful ergonomics.

At first glance, the CH23 exudes simplicity, yet a closer look reveals sophisticated details: the delicate cruciform cover caps on the backrest, the finely double-woven seat, and the subtly arched rear legs, offering both poise and stability.

Made from oak and walnut, the structure is tight and solid. The wood has been sanded and finished with Osmo Raw Oil, preserving the natural colour and grain while providing a subtle, protective finish.

Reintroduced in 2017, the chair remains faithful to Wegner’s original hand-drawn sketches, preserving every aesthetic and structural nuance.

In keeping with its age and honest use, the paper cord seat bears gentle signs of time, with light staining and the subtle imprint of years gone by. These marks do not detract from its strength or comfort, but rather lend the chair a quiet authenticity—a patina shaped by life, echoing the passage of hands and moments.

Each chair comes with its serial number.
