Malcolm David Walker , known as David was born 1933 and died in 2010 aged 76 . The Yorkshire Post in his obituary called him ” Designer , engineer and craftsman ” and later in the article as being ” Inspired by contemporary design , David had an eye for detail and quality , attributes the firm became known for ” .
He joined the family firm of Dalescraft from school.
David’s designs are highly influenced by contemporary Danish pieces of the time , and we’re guessing that they would have been produced from c 1962/3 to c 1968 . G Plan employed the famous designer Ib Kofod Larsen to design a Danish range c 1962 , but apart from this Dalescraft designs by David Walker are as close as you’ll get to Danish furniture being made in the UK .
These 3 chairs are from Dalescraft, beautifully restored and with new upholstery.
