    A beautiful round Mid-Century dining table, made in Denmark in 1960, crafted from teak with a particularly warm and vibrant grain that gives the piece a distinctive and striking appearance.

    The table features one cleverly concealed extension leaf stored inside the tabletop. To extend the table, the two sides of the top simply pull apart, revealing the folded extension stored within. The extension then opens like the wings of a butterfly, creating a larger dining surface while retaining the elegant proportions of the original round design.

    The teak has a rich, beautifully figured grain, with natural variation and movement across the tabletop that gives the piece a strong and stand-out Mid-Century character.

    A wonderful example of 1960s Danish furniture, combining the warmth and beauty of teak with an ingenious and practical extending mechanism.

    The table has been completely restored by our professional restorers, carefully bringing back the warmth, depth and natural beauty of the teak. It has been refinished to enhance the vibrant grain while preserving the character of this beautiful vintage piece.

    Please note that one side of the tabletop has a small repair to the edge. This has been carefully attended to and discreetly disguised by our professional restorers so that it blends naturally with the surrounding teak.     For delivery, the table can be completely dismantled, making it easier and safer to transport. It is very easy to dismantle and assemble, with the process being straightforward and requiring no specialist knowledge.

The thoughtful layout offers practical storage while maintaining the clean, refined lines of classic Scandinavian design.

    When this desk arrived at our workshop, it was in poor condition. Our skilled restorers have carefully and sympathetically brought it back to an exceptional standard, preserving its original character while ensuring it is ready for many more years of use. During the restoration, a small number of veneer repairs were professionally carried out where sections of the original teak veneer were missing.     The dresser features an attractive symmetrical arrangement of nine smoothly running drawers. Three smaller drawers are positioned centrally, flanked on either side by two banks of three full-width drawers, creating a balanced composition that is both visually striking and highly practical. The continuous walnut grain, warm natural colour and refined detailing highlight the outstanding craftsmanship for which Bassett became renowned.

    Founded in 1902 in Bassett, Virginia, Bassett Furniture Industries grew from a family-owned sawmill into one of America’s most respected furniture manufacturers. During the post-war decades, the company earned an international reputation for producing beautifully crafted furniture using premium hardwoods, combining traditional cabinet-making techniques with the clean, modern aesthetics that came to define Mid-Century American design.

    This particular dresser has an interesting provenance, having been imported from the United States in the early 1970s by an American family who later relocated to England in the 1980s. It has remained in the same family ever since, adding a wonderful layer of history and authenticity.

    Our professional restoration team has carefully restored the piece while preserving its original character. The walnut has been meticulously sanded and refinished with premium hardwax oil and Danish oil, enhancing the timber’s rich grain and providing a durable, natural finish. Every drawer has been inspected, adjusted where necessary, and now runs smoothly, ensuring the cabinet is ready for many more decades of everyday use.

    The chairs have undergone a careful and thorough restoration. All wooden surfaces have been meticulously sanded and refinished with Fiddes hardwax oil, enhancing the natural grain while providing lasting protection. Each structure has been fully stress-tested, re-glued where necessary, and tightened using traditional hand-craft methods, ensuring that every chair is solid, stable, and true.

    The set is offered ready for upholstery, allowing the future owner to complete it according to personal taste. Upholstery may be selected from Spradling vinyls or from Baumann and Creation fabrics; samples from all suppliers can be provided upon request. Hussey created this piece for the Peterfields Collection, featuring light teakwood, curved lines on the top and a flat front with minimalist built-in handles. This sideboard’s elegant and timeless design showcases Hussey’s mastery of his craft and the exceptional quality of White and Newton’s workmanship.

    Philip is one of the unsung heroes of British furniture design who deserves to be far better known! As a young man of 24, he was appointed to replace Arthur Edwards as head designer of White and Newton in 1964. They were then a successful medium-sized maker of contemporary furniture, which was a little conservative in style. In the late 1960s, he pushed some boundaries, particularly in some of his sideboard designs, which moved White and Newton into a much more modern, stylish, minimalist direction. Some of these designs were very popular and came up for sale quite frequently, while others were too ahead of their time and are unfortunately rarely seen today. When they do appear, they’re now recognised as design classics.

    I came across these two large pine bookcases at an antique fair in the south of England, and I fell in love instantly. Their graceful proportions, generous dimensions, and the refined moulding along the top give these pieces a quiet authority and timeless charm.

    At present, I have images of only one bookcase, as the second is currently in our restoration workshop and will be ready soon. Both share the same elegant design, though the second piece is slightly smaller in height and length, while maintaining the same width.

    Each bookcase features five adjustable shelves, all beautifully handcrafted in pine, offering ample and flexible storage while celebrating the natural warmth and texture of the wood.

    This set belongs to the iconic Rogate collection.

    The table is handcrafted with a beautiful teak with a vibrant teak grain for the top. The chairs are with its original upholstery and it is in very good condition, only some year and wear due to the age.

    All the set comes sanded and with an oily finished.
