Mid-Century Danish dining set in Oak 1960

A refined circular double-extending dining table designed by Laurits M. Larsen and crafted in Denmark during the 1960s. Rooted in the enduring tradition of Danish modern design, the table presents softly rounded proportions combined with clean, disciplined lines, creating a graceful yet understated presence.

The tabletop is framed in solid oak, a traditional and practical feature that protects the edges while ensuring long-term durability. Set of 8 Kai Kristiansen chairs for Bespoken upholstery (Model 31)

A distinguished set of eight Model 31 chairs, conceived in 1956 by the celebrated Danish designer Kai Kristiansen and handcrafted in Denmark by Schou Andersen Møbelfabrik.

Born in the golden age of Scandinavian modernism, the Model 31 is admired for its quiet mastery of form and function. The gently curved backrest is shaped to follow the human body, offering natural comfort, while the solid wood frame—traditionally executed in teak or rosewood—reveals the precision and integrity of mid-century Danish craftsmanship. Every line is purposeful, every joint a testament to a time when furniture was made to endure.

The chairs have undergone a careful and thorough restoration. All wooden surfaces have been meticulously sanded and refinished with Fiddes hardwax oil, enhancing the natural grain while providing lasting protection. Each structure has been fully stress-tested, re-glued where necessary, and tightened using traditional hand-craft methods, ensuring that every chair is solid, stable, and true.

The set is offered ready for upholstery, allowing the future owner to complete it according to personal taste. Upholstery may be selected from Spradling vinyls or from Baumann and Creation fabrics; samples from all suppliers can be provided upon request. We are also pleased to work with the client’s own material, in which case a £400 deduction will be applied.

Set of four oak dining chairs by Kai Kristensen (Model 31)

Set of Oak Model 31 Chairs by Kai Kristiansen, 1960s

Designed by Kai Kristiansen, one of Denmark’s most celebrated and influential mid-century designers, the Model 31 has become an enduring icon of Scandinavian design. Recognised for its graceful proportions and organic lines, it remains one of Kristiansen’s most sought-after creations.

This set, crafted in Denmark during the 1960s — the golden age of Danish design — embodies the era’s devotion to craftsmanship, functionality, and refined simplicity. The chairs are made of solid oak, their structure firm and finely balanced, showcasing the natural beauty of the wood. The oak has been carefully treated—pickled and finished with Renner ultra-transparent varnish—to preserve its authentic, light tone while ensuring long-lasting protection.

The seats have been newly upholstered in a refined light vanilla velvet by Baumann Creation, a Swiss company renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship. This choice of fabric lends a soft contrast to the sculptural frame, enhancing both comfort and elegance.
